Subway Surfers Haunted Hood: A Spooky Twist on the Endless Runner Gameplay
Subway Surfers Haunted Hood is a Halloween-themed version of the classic endless runner game Subway Surfers, originally released in 2012 by SYBO Games. The game belongs to the arcade endless runner genre and keeps the same fast-paced gameplay while introducing a darker, spooky atmosphere. Haunted Hood adds a seasonal twist with night-time visuals, themed decorations, and limited-time content, while the core objective remains simple: run as far as possible, avoid obstacles, collect coins, and increase your score.
This version introduces two new characters, Thursday and Outatime Jake, along with a new outfit for Scarlett called the Botanical Horror Outfit. Two new boards, Flaming Doll and Back to the Future, are also added. The update includes a special game mode, Plant Invasion: No Floor Challenge, which removes safe ground sections and pushes timing and reactions even further.
Detailed control guide
- You move left and right to switch lanes and avoid trains.
- You swipe up to jump over barriers.
- You swipe down to roll under signs and obstacles.
- If things get messy, you can double tap to use a hoverboard and save the run.
- On PC, it’s arrow keys or WASD, and spacebar for the hoverboard.
Explore the main map of this level
- The Haunted Hood map looks darker than normal, with fog, night skies, and Halloween props along the tracks.
- The layout is still the usual three lanes, but obstacles are harder to see sometimes, especially when the game speeds up.
- Tunnels feel tighter, and trains blend into the background more than usual.
- Power-ups still show up often, and they’re easier to notice because the map is so dark.
Tips for Better Runs
- Don’t rush your moves when the speed increases.
- Save hoverboards for sections where visibility is bad.
- Running on top of trains helps you see what’s coming next.
- Sliding right after landing from a jump makes fast sections easier to handle.
- Most crashes happen from small panic moves, not big mistakes.
